Pontiac man charged in jewelry store holdup

Roseville
A 58-year-old Pontiac man was arraigned Tuesday on charges stemming from a jewelry store holdup on Gratiot. Eddie Stephens Jr. is facing up to life in prison on armed robbery charges. Police said Stephens entered Rainbow Jewelry near Gratiot and 12 Mile on Monday, brandished a handgun and demanded money and jewelry.
Police don't believe the incident is connected to another jewelry store robbery June 14. In that case, two armed men hit Coin Cove Jewelry Co. on Gratiot near 10 Mile. Anyone with information is asked to call (586) 775-2100.

The owners pleaded not guilty, have been released on a $10,000 personal bond and are scheduled to appear in court July 12. The township cited the company last month because it received dozens of complaints about the odor coming from its grass composting operation.
